This is a great year to be a fisherman

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Salt River Project is reporting record breaking runoff from the snowpack this year.  There should be so much water that Roosevelt lake will be full for the first time since 1996.  This means that this year should be a great fishing year.    Fishing is projected to be at its peak for the last 20 years thanks to increased spawning activity.  This is a great year to be a fisherman.

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Lake Mohave is being improved by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Biologists were installing fish habitat which consisted of wood and brush. The area is being drained for dam construction. Quagga Muscles were found at Lake Mead so there is a lot going on. Fishing for striped bass has been good with crankbait at twenty five feet.

Quagga mussels in Lake Pleasant

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

The Arizona Game and Fish Department found quagga mussels in Lake Pleasant. These pesky critters from Europe are in other lakes also and are causing problems. The Arizona Game and Fish Department is asking everyone to drain boats and clean them to limit their spread. Be careful out there.

Invasive Quagga Mussles have been found in Lake Pleasant

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Invasive Quagga Mussles have been found in Lake Pleasant.  These dastardly devels clog pipes and destroy the native muscle population.  They have also been shown to kill fish.  It is likely that the Quagga muscles were transported here from another lake.  I hope this does not effect fishing to much.
