If you are a bluegill fisherman than you should be excited. There are some bonus bluegill stockings going into urban waters. Specifically Red Mountain, Water Ranch, Silverbell, Kennedy, and Riverview will be stocked with thousands of bluegills. Try them and I bet you will like them.

Fishing at Desert Breeze

I caught some large mouth bass at Desert Breeze recently. From a boat in the middle of the lake would yield the best results. I quickly caught 2 bass using worms and minnows. The largest bass I hauled in was about 12 inches.

Friday, September 12th, 2008

I am really excited because catfish are being stocked again very soon. The week of September 15, 2008 should bring in about thirteen thousand pounds of catfish. They are coming from Arkansas and will be stocked in all of the Urban Lakes in Arizona including Veterans Oasis. This is a new urban lake in Chandler.

Early Morning Tomorrow

Tomorrow I will be heading out early in the morning. I will be fishing at the Tempe Town Lake. The storms have recently slowed activity but I have heard that catfish are plentiful. for the best luck try under the Mill Avenue Bridge. In the past I have caught several catfish up to 14 pounds and even fishing. Night fishing also is good at this location.

Red Mountain Fishing

I did some more fishing at Red Mountain. I was able to catch a 12 inch bass. I used mainly worms in the early morning. A drop shot or split shot also worked well. Trout and catfish should be available soon. If you haven’t yet been fishing at Red Mountain check it out for yourself.

Labor Day on the Water

I spent the Labor Day weekend out on the lake. I had a fun time boating and fishing for triped bass and largemouth bass at Lake Pleasant. Fishing is great so far with a lot of shad in the water. Things can only get better as the weather starts to cool. Blue gill fishing is also great this time of year.

Fishing At Roosevelt Lake

I said hello to Roosevelt Lake. The lake is almost completely full at about ninety four percent. Fishing is pretty good in the morning. Topwater lures seemed to work the best along with drop shots. I took in about 15 largemouth bass. Night anglers have had some luck as well using mainly crankbaits. Try out this beautiful lake for yourself.

Big fun at Big Lake

Big fun at Big Lake

I always have fun at Big Lake. Why? Well… because it is a really big lake. Damselflies seemed to work best for trout. Worms also work well. Since Big Lake is not stocked you have to be crafty and find the fish early in the morning. I recommend renting a boat early in the morning on a rainy day for the best results.

Becker Lake Large Trout

Becker Lake Large Trout

I caught some large trout at Becker Lake. The boat ramp is in pretty good shape. I caught several 15 to 17 inch trout and even one 19 inch trout. Spinners and nymphs seemed to work the best. Becker Lake only allows artificual flys and artificial lures and barbless hooks. The posession limit is two trout so I released most of the fish. As usual I took my electric trolling motor boat. Try fishing near the boat ramp and around tree areas.

Bear Canyon Lake was Close By

Bear Canyon Lake was Close By so I headed over there. I caught some rainbow trout on powerbait. I took in about five fish under the clouds. Shore access is goods. The ramp is open but electric trolling motors only. Green and yellow seemed to be the winning colors. Check it out.
